Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) based in Amsterdam (RELOCATION PACKAGE)

Our client is a rapidly growing, privately-owned Performance Marketing company in Amsterdam. With over 100+ professionals, the company is on the verge of significant expansion and is looking for an experienced Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) to drive the strategic direction and long-term growth initiatives, working closely with the CEO.

The role:

The CSO will be responsible for developing and executing the company’s long-term strategy, identifying growth opportunities, and ensuring alignment with the company’s mission and objectives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in strategy development, market analysis, and performance marketing, and will work hand-in-hand with the CEO to position the company as an industry leader.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning & Execution:

  • Develop and refine the company’s strategic vision, focusing on long-term growth and sustainability.
  • Identify new market opportunities, partnerships, and business models to drive competitive advantage.
  • Lead strategic planning processes across departments, ensuring alignment with company goals.

Market & Industry Analysis:

  • Conduct in-depth market research and analysis to identify trends, threats, and opportunities within the performance marketing space.
  • Advise the executive team on emerging trends and competitor activity, providing actionable insights for decision-making.
  • Collaborate with the CEO on "make or buy" technology decisions and assess potential M&A opportunities.

Innovation & Growth Initiatives:

  • Drive innovation across the company by identifying and implementing new business initiatives.
  • Work closely with the product team to align strategy with product development and ensure market relevance.
  • Explore new verticals, channels, and regions for expansion, focusing on scaling operations globally.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Partner with the CEO, CFO, and other executives to ensure strategic initiatives are executed effectively across the company.
  • Lead the alignment between marketing, sales, and product teams to ensure all departments work toward unified goals.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, encouraging collaboration and creative problem-solving.

Performance Monitoring:

  • Set and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of strategic initiatives.
  • Regularly review and adapt the company’s strategy to ensure sustained success in a dynamic market.
  • Report regularly to the CEO and board on strategy execution and business performance.

Financial & Operational Oversight:

  • Support the CEO and CFO in financial planning, ensuring that strategic initiatives are well-funded and executed on time.
  • Ensure operational efficiencies are optimized to support growth without compromising on quality or customer satisfaction.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Act as a key advisor to the CEO, providing strategic insights and recommendations.
  • Engage with investors, partners, and key stakeholders to communicate the company’s strategic direction and growth plans.
  • Contribute to potential fundraising efforts, ensuring the strategy aligns with investor expectations and market opportunities.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a senior strategy role, within the Performance Marketing industry (affiliate marketing, mobile marketing, lead generation, etc.).
  • Strong background in strategic planning, market analysis, and identifying growth opportunities.
  • Experience working closely with executive leadership, particularly in a fast-paced, growth-driven environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement effective growth strategies.
  • Strong understanding of performance marketing trends and challenges.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate insights into actionable plans.
  • Exceptional communication skills, capable of influencing at all levels.
  • Experience with financial planning and budget management in the context of strategic growth.
